I love my mom, so I would not really sell my mother... But I did refer my mom for a couple of products that I thought would help her save money over the years and made some money doing so.
I was always upfront about it, and she usually would get a welcome bonus too, so there is nothing nefarious here except, maybe, the subject line of this email :)
The point I wanted to make is that everyone can basically generate free money by referring their friends and family to products that they would either have bought anyway or that would benefit them.
And even if you don't know anyone you could refer products to, you can still make money this way by sharing your referral links on social media in communities like r/CanadaReferralCodes/ or r/MooseMoney on Reddit or Canada Referral on Facebook!
If you are already a client of Tangerine, Neo Financial, Questrade, KOHO, Simplii, Cogeco, Fizz or Koodo, just log into your account and find your referral link in a section that is often called "Refer a Friend" or "Invite friends".
My list is in no way comprehensive, so you could basically log in o the online portal of everything you pay for, and check if they have a customer referral program.
PS: Just to see if you guys are reading my emails, I will give the first 5 people that reply to this email a $20 Amazon Gift Card. Even if your reply is not in the first 5, I will reply to let you know you were not fast enough!

New Canadian Cosmetics Brand Launches Affordable Makeup Line at Dollarama

Sona Cosmetics, a new Canadian women-owned cosmetics company, has launched an affordable line of beauty products available at Dollarama and Giant Tiger locations nationwide. Sona’s debut collection includes tinted lip treatments, peel-off lip stains, glowy lip oils, liquid blush wands, liquid contour wands, and jelly cheek/lip tints.
The best part? All of their products are priced between $6 and $12.
Apparently, Sona dupes (copies) higher-end brands like Rhode, Gisou, and Milk Makeup, so I compared prices, and let’s just say, Sona is far, far more affordable. But I’m no makeup expert, so I went to Reddit to see what people are saying about this new brand and its partnership with Dollarama, and the comments are not bad at all!

Canadian Banks Now Offer 18 Transactions Per Month With Their Basic $4/month Chequing Account (& No-Fee Accounts to Some People)

Here’s some good news if you’re trying to cut down on banking fees. The government announced on December 1st that 14 Canadian banks, including the 6 largest ones, agreed to make no-fee bank accounts available to more Canadians and increase the number of free transactions on low-cost accounts to 18.
The new free transaction requirements for the $4/month chequing accounts took effect on December 1, and require participating banks to include in their basic plan at least 12 debit transactions per month covering pretty much anything from in-store transactions to e-transfers and at least 6 additional transactions (for a total of 18) that could be regular debit transactions or other types of transactions such as online Visa debit transactions. If you are under 18, a student, a senior receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement or a newcomer to Canada (first year), participating banks must provide you with this basic account for free.
While every Canadian can open a no-fee chequing account with smaller players like EQ Bank, Neo Financial, Tangerine or Simplii, this new offering opens the possibility to pay fewer fees at larger banks. We checked the websites of the 6 largest Canadian banks, and found that the basic chequing accounts at RBC, Scotiabank, CIBC & National Bank were already compliant with the new announcement, while TD & BMO still only offered 12 transactions on their basic chequing account.

What EQ Bank's PC Financial Takeover Could Mean for Your Wallet

If you're one of the 17 million Canadians collecting PC Optimum points, relax. Your points are safe. EQ Bank is buying PC Financial from Loblaw for $800 million, but Loblaw will keep running the loyalty program and will get two seats on EQ Bank's board, once the deal close in 2026.
What's interesting is the potential upside. EQ Bank is known for high-interest savings accounts and no fees. If they integrate this well, you could eventually see things like earning PC points on debit transactions or linking your PC Mastercard to a high-interest EQ savings account. Think of how Scotiabank baked Scene+ into everything. A similar playbook here could be a real win for anyone already shopping at Loblaw, Superstore, No Frills, or Shoppers.

A Redditor Spent 5 Years Building a Deal-Finding Bot For Himself and Just Made It Public

A Canadian Redditor recently shared a passion project five years in the making: a bot that scrapes deal forums like RedFlagDeals, checks major retailers like Walmart and Loblaws for sudden price drops, scans Amazon for stackable coupons, and tries to rank deals by actual value instead of fake percentage-off claims.
I played around with it and here's my honest take: the homepage is a bit of a firehose. You'll see random deals mixed in, some only 8% off, so it's not a curated "best deals" feed. But the search function is solid. I'd use it before making a specific purchase rather than browsing the homepage hoping to stumble on something great.

Side Hustle Of The Week: Rent Out Your Ride!

Ever thought about renting out your car for cash? Did you even know that that was a thing? Well, it is, and many Canadian drivers are making hundreds of dollars a month renting their ride on Turo, a popular car-sharing platform.
This week’s side hustle story comes from a short but uplifting Reddit post from a Canadian Turo host who didn’t agree with the horror stories circulating online about using the platform to rent out your car for extra cash. After renting out their car 15 times, Inner-Parfait-192 said every guest had been respectful, and they’ve never had to deal with damage, cleaning issues, or disputes.
How Turo Works
Turo is similar to Airbnb, but for cars. Instead of booking from a traditional car rental agency, travelers can search for vehicles listed by everyday Canadians. The car owner (called a host) creates a listing with photos, availability, and pricing, while Turo handles payments, verifies renters, and provides insurance options.
How to Get Started
You can get started by opening a Turo account on its website. You’ll need to make sure your vehicle meets Turo’s eligibility requirements. For example, you must have a valid Canadian driver’s licence and be at least 21 years of age. Your vehicle can’t be over 12 years old and have fewer than 200,000 kilometers. Oh, you can be located in any province except for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Sorry, Prairie

🚨🏷️ Moose on the Loose in Dealville

Old El Paso Dinner Kits
Buy 2 Old El Paso Meal Kits for $8.94 & Get a $10 Grocery Store Gift Card
I don't know if humans also know about taco Tuesday, but it's one of the favourite traditions of your humble money moose. Basically, I just use it as an excuse to eat tacos every Tuesday. As a result, I was pretty excited when I saw this deal that literally pays you to eat tacos! All you need to do is buy two Old El Paso dinner kits (they're $4.47 at Walmart, but you can find them at a similar price at pretty much any grocery store) and upload the receipt on this Old El Paso micro-site along with your address. And then, you just wait (6 to 8 weeks) to receive your $10 gift card from any grocery store you like. So basically, you get paid $1.06 to eat tacos. Pretty neat, no?
Farmer's Market Russet Potatoes (10 lb)
$1.50
Hold onto your antlers, bargain hunters, because I just stumbled upon a “spudtacular” deal that’ll make your grocery budget do a happy little jig! A 10 lb bag of Russet potatoes from Real Canadian Superstore for only $1.50?! That’s 75% off and $4.50 in savings at an unheard-of price! At just over $0.03 per 100g, these taters are so cheap I nearly tried to stuff a second bag into my moose-sized hoodie pocket. (Don’t worry… I behaved. Mostly.)
Free Rib Taster Plate With $50 GC Purchase
$18.49 value
I just stomped into Montana’s and nearly slipped on my own drool. Why? Because this deal is so good, it should be illegal in at least three provinces. From now until December 31st (or while supplies last), when you grab a $50 Montana’s gift card, they’ll hand you a FREE Rib Taster Plate worth around $18.49, absolutely zero dollars, zero cents, zero regrets. That’s right: ribs so tasty I tried to hug the chef (the chef did not expect it). This is an unbeatable offer because the value is about 37% back in free ribs!! It’s like BBQ sorcery! Whether you gift the card, keep it for yourself (no judgment, I never share ribs), or hide it under your pillow for good luck, you still get a whole plate of saucy goodness just for participating.
Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Condensed Soup
$0.88
Sound the bargain alarm (it’s just me yelling “SOOOOOUUUP!” into the forest), because this deal is hotter than a simmering pot on a winter night! Until December 10, Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup is down to just $0.88 at No Frills. That's a $0.79 savings, nearly half off! I tried to do the math, but got distracted by the idea of bathing in a giant soup cauldron. (Don’t worry, I didn’t actually do it… we think.) At only $0.31 per 100 ml, you’re basically paying pocket change for the creamy, mushroomy magic that powers half of Canada’s casseroles. Thick. Creamy. Comforting. Cheap. What more could a deal-lovin' moose ask for?
