What's up my dudes and dudettes!
It's your boy Julien Brault!
I just saved $3 on my Disney+ subscription and a whopping $214.26 on my Linkedin Premium subscription this week.
My trick?
I just went ahead and canceled all my subscriptions.
People canceling are basically the biggest threats to companies offering recurring subscriptions, so they add extra steps just to play on your nerves: Are you sure you want to cancel, are you aware you will lose your InMails, do you confirm, are you really sure, like 100% serious?
I kept confirming like there is no tomorrow... until I got what they call a retention offer in the business.

Since I just recently re-subscribed to Disney (I need my Simpsons fix), they only offered $3 for 1 month. That said, the last time I did the trick, they offered me half price for 3 months.
I did the same with LinkedIn premium and I literally hit the jackpot.
I kept clicking "Continue" and "I understand" until....

$214.26 in my pockets, baby!
Even if you actually don't want to cancel a subscription, go ahead and cancel it. That is the only way to know if they are going to pitch you a retention offer.
The worst that can happen?
You will indeed unsubscribe! And if you feel you can't live without this subscription, nothing prevents you from hitting the subscribe button!
Don't judge me, but that is what ended up happening with Paramount+. I ended up canceling and they did not make me any sweet retention offer. So I resubscribed right away because I wanted to finish the Tulsa King. Sure, he might be past his prime, but it's Sylvester Stallone we are talking about!
While I did not do it this week, this trick also applies to your phone & Internet provider. Every single time I called them, threatened to leave them for a competitor with a better price, they either matched the competitor's price or gave me a discount.
If you're like me and you HATE speaking with customer service people on the phone, some users on Reddit said they were able to switch plans just by logging into their telco's portal or app and checking their account's promotions page. One user on Koodo reported being able to switch from a 40 GB $55/month plan to a 50 GB $34/month plan.
So what are you waiting for???

Snap Maple Leaves and Get 85Β’ Mini Blizzards

Ice cream might not be the first thing you think of in the fall, but this new promotion from Dairy Queen could change your mind. If you're a DQ Rewards member and you scan a real maple leaf using the Snapchat app, you'll unlock a sweet offer in the DQ App for an 85Β’ Mini Blizzard Treat (which regularly costs $4.99) until October 26th with a $1 minimum purchase (hint: kids fries are the cheapest thing on the menu, priced at $2.39).
The savings continue from October 27th to November 9th, when you can get a free Small Shake (which also costs $4.99) with a minimum $1 purchase. It's just another reason to get out and admire the changing leaves this season.

Bankruptcy can be costly as trustee fees, surplus income payments, and asset seizures add up quickly. Use this calculator to find out exactly how much filing for bankruptcy in Ontario will cost you and whether it actually saves you money.
This Amazon Price Tracker Extension Will Allow You To Find Real Deals

I love a good sale but I hate when retailers jack up the price of products a week before to make it look like a good deal when it really isn't at all. I recently discovered the CamelCamelCamel app which is a free Amazon price tracker. Just install the extension on your browser and you can access the price history of any Amazon product from any product page on Amazon.ca, so you can see how the price has gone up and down in the past. If you've got your eye on a particular item, you can also set an alert to get an email when the price drops.

Watch Schitt's Creek For Free On The CBC App

CBC Gem, the CBC's free streaming app, has just added a dedicated Schittβs Creek channel to watch all six seasons of the much-loved Canadian comedy. Viewers will still need to watch occasional ads throughout the episodes, but it's better than paying for yet another streaming service. So go on and cancel your Netflix, Prime or Disney accounts if you were subscribed. You can always just resubscribe once you're done your free, ad-supported binge.

New Wealthsimple Class-Action Lawsuit

If you're a Wealthsimple user, you could be eligible for compensation as part of a class-action lawsuit against the company. It's because of a data breach that happened on August 30, 2025 with sensitive information like names, addresses and SIN numbers compromised. The law firm Slater Vecchio LLP has submitted a proposal and welcomes Canadians who were impacted to reach out by November 30. Impacted users would have received an email from Wealthsimple on September 5th and they can claim two years of free free credit and dark-web monitoring, identity theft protection and insurance. It's still early days, so we don't know yet what the class-action will result in: a longer period of free credit monitoring, money or maybe even nothing at all. But it doesn't cost you anything to register if you were impacted, aside from a few minutes of your time.

Cineplex Family Favourite Movies
$3.99
My mini-mooses love watching movies, so they were pretty psyched about this Cineplex promotion to watch selected family movies for just $3.99 on Saturdays. That's a pretty good deal since the regular price of a movie ticket is around $16. Some of their upcoming family favourites include Trolls, A Minecraft Movie, Trolls Band Together and Corpse Bride. We're going to watch all four!
Get up to $700 for starting a new TD acccount
$0
My next favourite thing after a good discount is FREE MONEY!! That's exactly what you'll get when you sign up for a new eligible TD Chequing Account. There are a few hoops to jump through, like setting up a recurring direct deposit and pre-authorized debit payment, making an online bill payment and setting up a pre-authorized transfer to a savings account. The offer ends on November 5. But those are hoops I'd gladly jump through for that much money.
Midea 3.0 Cubic Feet Mini Freezer
$189.98
A classic Moosey money-saving move is to buy meat and other items in bulk for cheaper then freeze what you can't eat right away. I checked the previous prices using the CamelCamelCamel extension and it confirmed t's now at its lowest-ever price. It's regularly $289.97. If you wanna use all that extra freezer space for tubs of Rocky Road, I won't judge you!
